Personal History | Elleth was born shortly after the conquest of her world. Her mother told her that her father had been a doctor who'd come early in the occupation but, from the moment her empathic abilities developed in adolescence, Elleth sensed darker emotions. They might have simply come from the humiliation of receiving help from the race that conquered her homeworld or from the doctor's subsequent abandonment of his native girl when he got his next assignment. Maybe. Elleth's mother was a cook. Starfleet officers and enlisted personnel, were often among her clientele and, as condescending as they could be, Elleth grew used to them. The Empire was simply a fact of life to her. Although she heard rumors of distant rebellions, they seemed hopeless. Instead, she hoped to prove that Betazoids could have a more important place within that framework. So she enlisted. At the Starfleet Technical Services Academy, she roomed with an Andorian named Pava sh'Aaraka. The non-Terrans were generally segregated and treated as second class personnel. It was doubly hard for Elleth because the other non-Terrans generally thought her human side got her special treatment, something that was not remotely true. |
